My Journey Into Security+ – Getting Started with Professor Messer & Exam Compass

Starting my Security+ journey felt a little overwhelming at first. There’s so much information out there, and figuring out where to begin was half the battle. But after some digging and recommendations, I landed on two main resources that really kicked off my studies: Professor Messer and Exam Compass.

Let me tell you, Professor Messer is an absolute lifesaver. His free videos are packed with solid info, and the way he explains things just clicks for me. It wasn’t just dry facts—it felt like he was walking me through the concepts in a way that made sense. I started with his YouTube videos and followed along with his course notes, and that gave me a solid foundation.

To really test what I was learning, I used Exam Compass for free practice tests. They were super useful for getting used to the exam format and spotting areas I needed to work on. I made it a habit to take a couple of quizzes after each study session—it helped reinforce what I’d just learned and kept me on track.

Eventually, I decided to go a step further and support Professor Messer by purchasing his practice exams—and honestly, that was one of the best decisions I made. These exams are well-structured, challenging, and incredibly detailed. They mimic the actual exam experience closely and really helped boost my confidence. Totally worth the investment.

So yeah, that’s how I got the ball rolling. It’s still a work in progress, but thanks to Messer and Exam Compass, I feel like I’ve got a strong grip on the material. If you're just getting started with Security+, I can’t recommend those two resources enough.
